Join the next webinar in the 3D Organon Immersive Education Webinar Series, “Using 3D Organon in Undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology Education at Rutgers University”, on August 27, 2026, at 9:00 AM EDT, featuring Dr.Rola Bekdash, Assistant Professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, US. In this session, Dr. Bekdash will share her experience integrating immersive technology into undergraduate anatomy and physiology education, highlighting how 3D Organon is being used to create engaging and effective learning experiences for students.
Dr. Bekdash will discuss the practical applications of virtual reality in anatomy education, the challenges and opportunities of implementing immersive technologies in higher education, and how VR can support students in developing a deeper understanding of complex anatomical concepts.
About the Speaker
Dr. Rola Bekdash is an Assistant Professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Rutgers University, with extensive teaching and research experience in neuroscience. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in Biology from the American University of Beirut and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Following her Ph.D., Dr. Bekdash completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University, where she received the prestigious National Research Service Award (NRSA) F32 Fellowship and the Institutional Research Training Award (T32). Her research has focused on the long-term effects of adolescent alcohol exposure on inhibitory brain circuits and behavior, with scholarly interests spanning nutritional programming, epigenetics, brain development, and mental health.
She has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Human Physiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Neuroendocrinology, and Epigenetics. In addition to earning an MBA in Strategy from Rutgers Business School, she co-developed an undergraduate minor in Leadership and Communication.
As Chair of the department’s Assessment Committee, Dr. Bekdash has successfully integrated 3D Organon into her courses, creating immersive learning experiences that help students better understand complex anatomical concepts and prepare for future clinical practice.
