3D Organon Enhances Neuraxial Procedural Training at Weill Cornell Medicine

We are proud to share that 3D Organon was a central platform used in the recent research project Curriculum for Neuraxial Procedural Training Using Medical Extended Reality,” authored by John E. Rubin and Rohan Jotwani and published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia.

In this innovative study, residents at Weill Cornell Medicine participated in an advanced “Neuraxial Masterclass,” utilizing extended reality (XR) technologies to deepen their understanding of complex spinal anatomy and neuraxial techniques. The training sessions incorporated 3D Organon’s highly detailed anatomical models in a shared, multiuser virtual environment, allowing both instructors and trainees to interact with 3D structures collaboratively and intuitively.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing how the XR experience, powered by 3D Organon, significantly improved their ability to visualize anatomical relationships, understand needle trajectories, and apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. The virtual sessions offered an experiential learning method that preserved the traditional dynamics of teacher–student interaction while providing the added benefits of immersion, presence, and interactivity.

The use of 3D Organon in this curriculum demonstrates the growing importance of medical extended reality in education and the platform’s potential to revolutionize how complex procedures are taught worldwide.

We congratulate Dr. Rubin, Dr. Jotwani, and the entire team for this achievement and are excited to continue supporting the advancement of healthcare education through immersive technology.
