WHO IS THE PERSONAL EDITION DESIGNED FOR?
The Personal edition is for personal/individual use only.
WHO IS THE ENTERPRISE EDITION DESIGNED FOR?
The Enterprise edition of 3D Organon is designed for institutions and professionals.
WHICH ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE PERSONAL AND THE ENTERPRISE EDITIONS?
According to the 3D Organon EULA, the Personal edition, is for personal use only; you cannot install it on an institution’s computer, and also, you cannot demonstrate it in public. Generally, the personal edition has fewer features than the Enterprise edition. You cannot create a virtual room (you can only join one as Guest); and it only provides animations for the Skeletal system. The Enterprise edition provides animations for all the body systems.
WHICH DEVICES IS 3D ORGANON AVAILABLE FOR?
3D Organon anatomy apps are available on Windows and Apple Mac computers, Android and Apple iPad tablets as well as HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, HTC Focus, Oculus Rift, and Microsoft Mixed Reality VR headsets. An Oculus Go version will follow soon. The HTC Vive and Microsoft Mixed Reality versions are walking VR experiences. We have two options for Oculus Rift: a standing/seated VR experience with mouse and Xbox controller support, and a walking VR module supporting the Oculus touch controllers. Moreover, we support the HTC Focus standalone VR for untethered VR experiences. This solution is very popular for those who don’t want to compromise on quality and save from building a computer workstation.

Standalone VR headsets
Ensure you grant access to your device’s camera and microphone the first time you launch the 3D Organon VR Anatomy app as to ensure the smooth operation of the multi-user functionality. In case you want to review these settings please check the ‘Settings’ option in the main menu of the HTC Focus.

HOW TO USE THE MULTI-USER MODULE IN 3D ORGANON.
By default, the multi-user function in the 3D Organon VR Anatomy app uses three basic services. These services include 3D models, voice chat, and text chat synchronization across users and educators in a virtual anatomy training session.
In case you are experiencing problems with either of these services, please contact the IT helpdesk in your institution if you are in such a setup. Feel free to get in touch with us for assistance with setting up your virtual anatomy sessions.
The multi-user functionality in 3D Organon is enabled in all versions of 3D Organon from 2019.0.0.x onwards. Owners of Personal licenses purchased from online stores, or directly from 3D Organon, or a distributor, are able to join a multi-user anatomy training session, but are not eligible to create a virtual room. Cross-platform usage is supported, enabling non-VR users (e.g. desktop and tablet licenses) to join a session created by a user/tutor using a VR device and vice-versa. The visualisation in a VR device has some advantages due to the immersive nature of VR technologies, yet, users on conventional devices can still experience the awesome multi-user functionality of 3D Organon.
Owners of the Enterprise edition are additionally able to create virtual rooms and host anatomy training sessions. Other users can join a session from anywhere in the world with access to the internet.
To join a virtual session select the ‘Network’ icon and the list of the available rooms will show up on the screen. To change your Username follow the instructions on the images.
To join a room select ‘Join room’. If a password is required to join a particular room please contact your institution/tutor. The room will load within a few seconds. You can follow the session as presented by the tutor, and communicate using voice and text chat functions.
To create a room select ‘Create’ and follow the instructions on the following image to enter the desired room name, number of supported clients, room visibility (private/public) and an optional password.
Inside the virtual room you can unmute/mute users by clicking the microphone icon on the left of each username. Users can type messages in the text chat box. To exit the room select ‘Leave room’.
IS THE MULTI-USER FUNCTIONALITY ALSO A CROSS-PLATFORM SOLUTION?
Yes, it is. The Mult-iuser cross-platform functionality is enabled in all versions of 3D Organon from 2019.0.0x onwards. A virtual session can be accessed across different platforms such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive Windows desktop, etc.
HOW MANY USERS CAN BE CONNECTED IN A VIRTUAL ROOM?
Up to 10 persons can be connected in a virtual room. If you need access for more than 10 users to a virtual room, please contact us for a license upgrade. There are options for up to 200 users per room.
WHAT LICENSES DO STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE TO CONNECT TO A VIRTUAL ROOM?
The Multi-user cross-platform functionality is enabled in all versions of 3D Organon from 2019.0.0x onwards. A single Enterprise edition license is enough to create a virtual room. Students can join a virtual session with the ‘Login as Guest’ option of the Enterprise edition, at no cost. There are ‘Guest’ options in both Enterprise and Personal editions. Both give full access to join a multi-user session. An unlicensed Enterprise installation has limited access to individual components and body systems of 3D Organon. The Personal edition can only be installed in personal devices.
WHAT IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO GRASP THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES OF 3D ORGANON?
Simply select the ‘Help’ icon on the ‘Settings’ menu of the app for a detailed list of explainer videos per function.
WHICH ARE THE MOST COMMON 3D ORGANON USE CASE SCENARIOS?
1. Students can use it for individual self-directed study (with the ability to mirror view on a 2nd screen/projector). They can do this using a tethered (e.g., HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift, Microsoft Mixed Reality) or standalone headset (HTC Focus) or desktop or tablet device.
2. Student or tutor-led small group teaching.
3. Educator-led large group session/lecture. In this case, we recommend the educator to use the VR or desktop version of 3D Organon. The desktop version does not require a VR headset, and it is not as immersive as the VR. Mirroring the HTC Focus on a big screen is possible. Please, have a look at the following link: https://enterprise.vive.com/au/support/vive-focus/category_howto/projecting-the-vive-focus-screen-to-an-external-device.html
4. Multi-user, cross-platform module. There multiple ways you can do this. For example, an educator may use the VR or desktop or tablet version of 3D Organon to run an online virtual room with students able access to join the session from institutional or personal devices.
You can apply a combination of the above solutions both in the Anatomy lab, tutorial rooms, and lecture theaters. It depends on your space, your budget and how many students you have at the same time.
